START PLAYING PAINTBALL – FIRST MARKER/GUN?
So you want to start playing paintball. You find yourself standing at a paintball shop staring continuously at the display asking questions that you don’t understand the answers of.
First mistake most first time buyers make is to say the following “I want an entry level marker to start with and if I like the game then only I would spend more money on something better”. It sounds responsible… or maybe not. Starting paintball with half a motive you can just as well stop and save your money.
Paintball consist of two types named Speedball and Military Style Paintball. I am going to elaborate on the Military Style Paintball. For MSP players it’s all about camo clothes, stealth movements and adrenalin filled military scenes.
I can now go on about all the different type markers and there pros and cons. But that will just be wasting time. The best value for money Marker on the market is the Tippmann A5.
Let’s start with the Standard A5. The marker includes the Cyclone feeder. This insures Synchronized ball feed for reduced breakage and jamming. This system uses the air supply to increases the rate of fire by spinning more balls into the chamber than what is possible with a gravity fed hopper.
The A5 trigger can also easily be upgraded to a Response Trigger or E-Trigger. This will drastically improve your rate of fire. Using the Response Trigger system is the best option. It works without any batteries. Hint batteries go flat. In MSP the Response Trigger’s rate of fire is more than enough and consistent.
The A5 also comes with a vast variety of optional extras from tactical butt stocks, barrels, sights and fake magazines. The A5 can also be upgraded to a magazine fed marker by adding a TACAMO A5 MAGAZINE-FED CONVERSION KIT.
The A5 is so easy to repair. Parts are available at most PB Shops. Do your basic maintenance and you won’t be left wanting.
You can get the standard A5 from R2165 excluding air/co2 bottle.

I've been running my A5 for the past 6 years, and aside from the cyclone ratchet breaking (replacement ratchets are available in the parts kits as standard) I've had no issues with the marker.
ReplyDeleteThe breakages I did have were due to bad luck and operator stupidity resulting in a broken but stock, a cracked push-pin a few chin stitches, and a very bruised ego. Reginald and a few others should remember the incident.
Very true, although I don't have one, I have seen that this marker is extremely reliable and very upgradable.
ReplyDeleteI also believe the BT4 Combat falls into the same category. As many options as there are for the A5 so there are for the BT4 Combat.
One thing to remember, it doesn't matter how cool all these different markers look, at the end of the day they all need to be chrono'd to 290fps.
I would say, find a marker that you feel will serve your purpose and then match it up with a barrel and ball that gives you the best stealth, accuracy and reliability.
